Our story
Where materials meet their makers
We are a family sawmill near Frome. We stock, cut and source the right timber for whatever you are building, from oak beams and cladding to fence posts and feature boards, in hardwood and softwood. We cut and supply firewood all year round, local seasoned and kiln dried.
Provenance. We know where our wood comes from, and we care about it, so you can too. Ask us and we will tell you.
Craft. We respect the making, ours and yours. Choosing the right board, cutting it well, looking after it after.
Welcome. A working yard should not feel off limits. Our prices, stock and advice are for everyone, first raised bed or thirtieth job.

A little about Valley
Valley Sawmills has been sawing and selling timber outside Frome for fifty years. Fencers, landscapers, builders, gardeners and people building their first raised bed all end up at the same yard, and we help them find the right timber for the job: design, build, make, mend and stay warm.
We carry a lot. Structural timber, cladding, decking, fencing, gates, garden buildings, sleepers and firewood. Whatever you're after, you'll get a straight answer from whoever's on the counter.
We still run the saws here, milling beams, boards and cladding on site. The rest we buy in from British and European suppliers we've known for years. Knowing where to get good timber at a fair price matters as much as cutting it.
The mill is passing to the next generation, and we're asking what Valley needs to become to be the mill this community needs in another fifty years. Come down and be part of working that out.
